KEY TERM!
PROSE & PURPLE PROSE
Prose means any writing that is set out in an ordinary way unlike poetry which is set out in stanzas.

'Purple prose' is a particular kind of descriptive writing that is ridiculously sensuous and melodramatic. The proper word to describe it is 'florid'. Purple prose has too many adjectives and adverbs; its writer describes everything - often using at least two adjectives - that can be described regardless of whether it matters to the writing's controlling idea or theme Such writing teems with wild, overwrought, melodramatic, gripping, riveting, descriptive adjectives! The previous sentence is a good example.

In all of your writing, cut out the flab, keep the reader in mind and keep the reader involved.
